Melissa H. Dery is The Golden Rule Virtual Assistant (VA) providing Virtual Business Management to Direct Sales leaders.  A former direct sales consultant, Melissa also grew up in a direct selling family.  She knows firsthand about the “behind the scenes” work required to help your business grow and prosper.

When Melissa combined more than 20 years of experience as an administrative professional with her desire support those in direct sales and The Golden Rule VA was born.  Her mission and her “rule” are the same: to treat your business as if it were her very own, with respect, creativity and professionalism.  

All that professional stuff aside let ME tell you about Melissa.  She and I connected online through our business coach.  We hit it off right away and I showed my bossy side when I insisted we turn on the camera during our first skype call.  =) We’ve had many makeup-less, bad hair day skype sessions and it is what let me know that Melissa is the real deal.  She also gets my sarcasm and we became fast friends.  I like her SO much that she and I have a little announcement coming out this week!!  Reveal will be on the Directly Successful Facebook Page first so be on the look out for that BIG announcement THIS week!!  This girl KNOWS her stuff and I can say that because I have HIRED her in the past!

Most people who go into business for themselves have a very clear picture of what they want:  freedom, flexibility and fun….and, of course, more money!

There are lots of other reasons that people choose direct sales businesses; they range from loving the product to winning trips and prizes, growth potential, recognition and fun.

(Yes, I know I said “fun” twice.  Stick with me for another minute or so.)

I’ll bet I know some of the things that were NOT on your list, too.

How many of you set out to have:

  • An overflowing email inbox
  • A daily trip to the post office to send catalogues and samples
  • Hours creating, writing and scheduling your monthly newsletter
  • Feeling guilty for not remembering to follow-up with your Hostesses and Team

It’s safe to say that now that you’ve been doing this for a while you’ve probably noticed a bit of a gap between what you want and what you’ve actually got.

Sure, most direct sellers LOVE being…direct SELLERS!

You enjoy sharing your knowledge, training new consultants, meeting with prospects, attending your company’s events.  Really, who else gets to call “going to work” a “party”?  Meeting people… sharing amazing products and… well… having fun.  (There it is again.)

A fun way to share your information with your team is to use an email marketing system to create a newsletter to share with your team.

Once you find a great system, the systems I recommend are: MailChimp, Constant Contact or my personal favorite MyNewsletterBuilder, then you’ll be able to send reminders to your team for training calls/events, create monthly team newsletters highlighting accomplishments and events.  It’s a much more effective, pretty and fun way to keep your team informed.

I started my business to help you grow your business! There is nothing I enjoy more than helping a Superstar Direct Seller get more time to do what she does best… and usually those are the things she loves most about the business.

Your skill and talent is in sharing the product and your opportunity; mine is in helping grow your business by providing you the support you need.
